Clinical description:
Velogenic viscerotropic Newcastle disease. Egg shell discoloration can be one of the first signs of Newcastle infection if the virus involves the reproductive tract of breeder hens. The dark brown shells, shown here, are normal while the lighter ones are affected. This sign is appreciable only in brown egg layers. If the infection is severe, the shells can become fragile and abnormalities in shape and size can also occur.
