- The 3 tabs located above the picture frame allow you to open folders and search the content by clinical signs, gross lesions, and histopathology. The tab color indicates the following:
o Black text on green tab = content folder open and currently displaying images
o White text on grey tab = content category available but folder is not open
o Grey text on grey tab = content category not currently available - The “THIS IMAGE” box identifies basic information about each image such as the clinical sign depicted, etiology, and the avian species.
- The “SORT RESULTS” box allows you to sort the results displayed in the picture frame, if desired. To use the “SORT RESULTS” list, scroll up and down the list and select an item by clicking the item from the list. This will reload your image stack and allow you to view only those results that you are interested in.
- Each image has an accompanying annotation describing the pertinent findings. These annotations are displayed in the “DESCRIPTION” folder, located in the lower right corner of the screen. When the image description folder is open, black text will appear on a green tab.
- If you click on the “DISEASE PROFILE” tab, the folder will open and display a summary of the disease depicted in the image. Summaries include a description of the disease etiology, host range, epidemiology, clinical signs, post-mortem lesions, differentials, diagnostic tests, prevention and control, and selected references.
- If you click on the “DIFFERENTIALS” tab, the folder will open and display a list of differential diagnoses for the disease. Diseases that appear as links (i.e. blue underlined text) are present within the Atlas. Clicking one of these links will load that disease's images into the picture frame, providing a convenient cross-reference tool.
- You can also view a set of normal reference photos by clicking the “Normals” tab, located on the top right side of the picture frame. These normal images depict healthy tissues demonstrated in the chicken. You can view all the normals or select specific tissues or organs by using the “SORT RESULTS” list.
